149 A A As Birmingham's newest hotel, the esteemed Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook boasts a glamourous ballroom fit for an evening of elegant entertaining. Event designer Christopher Confero draws inspiration from dreamy, yet dark fairytales to create a sleek and sexy wedding with a palette of white, black and touches of ruby red. The white runner leading to the ceremony altar is lined with white ghost chairs from Event Rentals Unlimited that have been treated with monogram decals by Amberly Shelton Paperie. Black candelabras from PropHouse and geometric floral columns create a modern setting for the couple's nuptials. In a Bliss by Monique Lhullier gown, the bride carries a lush Phalaenopsis cascade bouquet. Through the ballroom doors to the reception, a grand head table has been set under a custom canopy of drapery and lighting by A.G. Lighting. From the lush floral header dripping with crystals, down the crystal chandelier and to the table's centerpiece candlescape, this table glints and glows with elegance as porcelain poodles leisurely guard the table. Menus placed at each setting prepare guests for the oncoming, opulent meal including scallop BLTs, a candystripe beet salad and seared duck breast and duck sausage with roasted Cipollini, poached pears, rosemary gremolata and frisee salad. Rather than practice the tradition of a first dance, the groom strikes a tune on the grand piano as the bride seductively sings Lana Del Ray's "Once Upon a Dream." The couple then prepares to cut the incredibly crafted carousel cake by The Cakerie, set in front of heavy red drapery as an allusion to the closing curtain of the theatre. Jean Pierre the Poodle waits ever patiently for a taste as the bride and groom depart to hopefully find their happily ever after.
