39 A A Rehearsal Dinner The rehearsal dinner is usually also the frst ofcial gathering of both families. Encouraging conversation and fellowship at the dinner table will help create a positive energy for the weekend, and there's no better way to do that than family-style serving. Andy Hopper of KG Designs looks to the Mediterranian way of dining to help create this experience at The Gardens Cafe with offerings of grilled lamb chops with tatziki sauce, spanakopita, Greek salad, and plenty of great wine. The Plan "To present a rehearsal dinner, we created a Taverna night, which is a fun way to serve food and get to know people in a sharing and passing setting. A rehearsal dinner is, for many, the frst time both families meet and interact. Sharing a meal is an imitate process that can be very casual and what better way to get to know someone than at the table family style. The lazy susan presenting the food is the delectable centerpiece. When one is in Greece , family style of dining is always a party. Taverna nights are a relaxing and less formal way to share food and laughter. Waves of food brought out keep the dinner conversation interesting and add a visual and conversational focal on the lazy susan. Sharing an abundance of good food amongst family and friends is always a good start to an enjoyable wedding weekend." -Andy Hopper, KG Designs Catering: Kathy G. & Co. Floral Design & Planner: KG Designs. Photography: Nick Frontiero Photography. Venue: The Gardens Cafe at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. When serving food family-style, the center of your table may become dedicated to all your delicious dishes. To still bring beautiful foral touches to the table, look to creative opportunities for a decorative touches. Floral chair ties and a centerpiece on the nearby mantle give those extra touches that may be missed.
