Dianne knew Elton through her friendship with his sister, and their first date was to the Junior-Senior Prom. They dated for three years before going their separate ways for the next 50 years. Time and circumstance changed many things, but when the two reconnected during Dianne's 50th high school reunion, the spark between them remained. After a long hug, Elton told Dianne, "I lost you 50 years earlier and I'm not going to let that happen again." Their courtship resumed for two and a half years until one February afternoon, Elton took Dianne back to the very same spot where their romance had rekindled. As they sat inside that same gazebo, enveloped by sunshine and a gorgeous lake view, Elton proposed.
