81 A W W hat sets them apart? Southern-style pampering. – Christina Sloan Events' goal is to deliver an exceptional experience for each couple and their guests, full of personal details and Southern hospitality. They love to "love on" their couples and support them completely through one of the most special seasons of their lives. "We wholeheartedly believe that a wedding is one of the most intimate and joyful celebrations, and that you should be pampered not just on your wedding day, but throughout the entire planning process," Sloan says. "Our client experience through the entire process is what sets us apart from the others. We love getting to know each of our couples on a personal level so that we can serve them by telling their story through intimate moments, exceptional guest experiences, and a flawlessly executed plan." Strength in numbers. – Logistics, budgets, and details: these three words can overwhelm even the most determined bride. But for Christina Sloan, whose career began in accounting and in the corporate environment, these words are tantalizing—thrilling, even. "I am ALL about the backend nuts and bolts. Timelines, itineraries, production logistics," Sloan says. "I leave no detail left to chance and live for color-coded timelines, full of all the details that make the day go off without a hitch. Meticulous organization and attention to detail are the foundation for everything else we do." Her therapeutic presence. – When working closely with someone on such a personal event, bonds are formed that go beyond mere client and vendor. Sloan believes her "love-on," Southern approach, coupled with a career path that at one point began in psychology, is crucial to her success. "It takes patience, compassion, and the ability to understand why someone thinks, feels and reacts the way she does in order to serve her well," Sloan says. Biography: Christina Sloan didn't set out to become a wedding planner, but she is certain it was always meant to be. As a Georgia native, she went to school for accounting, but found herself extremely unhappy in the corporate world. She began working on corporate events. She became familiar with the backend and logistics of how an event comes together, and after assisting a few friends with their weddings, Sloan discovered her love of the wedding industry. With the encouragement of her husband, Sloan took a leap of faith and started Christina Sloan Events in 2013. "I was never the girl who pretended to be a bride," Sloan says. "I was the 13-year old begging my parents to buy me wedding magazines so I could make the lists and plan. I toyed with the idea of wedding planning after my own wedding in 2006, and revisited it several times through the years. It feels like it's where I'm meant to be and I am so thrilled to get to do what I love every single day." photography: nick frontiero photoraphy location: heidi elnora atlier
